About Doreen
Doreen Gaetano Aiardo is a full-time nationally-accredited music teacher having taught for more than thirty years since earning her B.S. degree in Music Education and Piano. She has always been fascinated with the learning process and has observed, noted and tested methods to connect and engage students, encouraging and promoting their interests and skills. Doreen is also a published author of music and music books and is a composer-arranger of both instructional and performance pieces. She recently began her recording career as a pianist, performing original compositions.
Doreen’s recent book, “The Seven Strategies – Teaching Heartfelt Connections and Life Lessons Through Music Education”, is an account of her journey and success as a music educator. Many of students, have been accepted to music colleges, and have won state and regional playing awards and scholarships. Some have gone on to be successful music teachers in their own right in private and in public education systems.
Her full house student recitals are uniquely fun, cafe-style celebrations as she and her students perform as a soloist and also in groups with multi-keyboards and orchestral instruments, highlighting her students many genres of musical and theatrical talents! A highlight!

B.S. Music Education, graduated cum laude, Music School; piano; University of Bridgeport Connecticut.
Studied with Mildred Humphrey (Yale School of Music), Dr. Terry Greenawalt (Eastman /UB Classical Studies) and Orlando Vitello (New England Conservatory /UB Jazz Studies).
Full Time music teacher since 1978.
Permanent National Certification - MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) & CT State Music Teachers Association (CSMTA).
President, CSMTA New Haven Chapter, eight years.
Two-time Chairman / Event Planner of CT State Music Teachers Assoc. State Convention held at Yale University School of Music, New Haven, CT
Established the initial connection between CT State Board of Education and CT State Private teachers enabling CEU credits for private music teaching.
